GERMANY. Halberstadt (Bistum). Ulrich I von Reinstein, 1149-1160. Bracteate (Silver, 32 mm, 0.89 g). S - S•STEPH - ANVS - PROTH St. Stephan kneeling right, raising his arms in supplication; in field to left, swastika; in the upper right field, blessing hand of God; behind, circle of pillars. Rev. Incuse of obverse. Berger 1271. Besser/Brämer/Bürger 14.11. Bonhoff 460. Löbbecke 19. Nau 189. A very well preserved and beautifully toned piece in the finest Romanesque style. Minor doubling and small areas of weakness, otherwise, extremely fine.
